Another highlight of Anglo American Platinum’s just released 2019 report was the revelation that electric narrow reef mechanised equipment is set for trials at its Tumela 15E underground platinum mine, part of the Amandelbult Complex in Limpopo province. These new narrow reef machines use lithium-ion batteries which can achieve up to 2,000 charging cycles. These units will replace the diesel XLP units in the future.

AUTO SALES: Passenger car registrations: -7.5% in January 2020

In January 2020, the EU1 passenger car market contracted by 7.5% to 956,779 units. Major taxation changes announced by some EU member states for 2020 pulled registrations forward into December 2019, explaining this January drop. Other contributing factors included weakening global economic conditions and uncertainty caused by the UK's departure from the European Union.
