Ismet is a purpose-driven sustainability and ESG professional with over a decade of experience in the extractive and raw materials industries, specialising in critical minerals, resource efficiency, and regulatory compliance. His expertise spans ESG performance analysis, policy research, and emissions quantification, with a strong focus on enabling sustainable investments and supporting responsible mineral supply chains.

At SFA Oxford, Ismet leads ESG and critical minerals consulting initiatives, delivering regulatory exposure assessments, risk and gap analyses, and scenario planning tailored to the commodities and energy transition minerals value chains. He provides strategic insights to clients navigating frameworks such as the SFDR, EU Taxonomy, TCFD, and CSRD. He recently led the successful delivery of the “Strengthening UK-Chile Partnership: Enhancing ESG Standards in the Critical Mineral Supply Chain” project, fostering alignment of ESG expectations across mining, finance, and policy stakeholders.

Previously, Ismet worked as an ESG Consultant at a global private equity firm, where he developed and implemented a proprietary ESG scoring and benchmarking model to assess and monitor sustainable investments and portfolio company performance. His responsibilities included conducting detailed policy research, EU Taxonomy alignment studies, emissions modelling through Life Cycle Assessments, and managing SFDR-aligned disclosures. He also served as the principal ESG liaison for investor and portfolio company engagement.

Prior to this, he worked as a Sustainability Consultant at an international engineering consultancy, delivering ESG risk assessments, Net Zero roadmaps, and emissions reduction strategies for mining sector clients. He carried out site-level assessments on resource efficiency, advised on the integration of ESG frameworks, and supported stakeholder engagement and training initiatives.

Earlier in his career, Ismet held senior operational roles at a mid-sized multi-asset mining company, where he led cost control, contract management, and pre-feasibility assessments across multiple mine sites. He gained hands-on experience in project development and operational planning across lead-zinc, chromite, and gold operations, managing both brownfield and greenfield portfolios.

Ismet is also the Co-Founder and Steering Committee Member of the Critical Minerals Initiative of Turkey (CMIT). In this role, he leads member engagement, develops international partnerships, and promotes knowledge exchange between academia, industry, and policymakers. He chaired the ESG and Circular Economy session at the 2024 Türkiye Critical Minerals Summit, which brought together global stakeholders to advance sustainable practices in the critical minerals space.

He holds an MA in Environmental Futures (University of Essex), an MSc in Engineering Management (University of Exeter), and a BSc in Geological Engineering (Istanbul Technical University). Ismet combines technical expertise with strategic foresight to support sustainability integration and ESG excellence across the global critical minerals value chain.
