FUEL CELLS: Manganese hydride molecular sieve for practical hydrogen storage could cost roughly 5x less than 700 bar tanks

An international team of researchers has developed a manganese hydride molecular sieve that can be readily synthesized from inexpensive precursors and demonstrates a reversible excess adsorption performance of 10.5 wt% and 197 kgH2m-3 at 120 bar at ambient temperature with no loss of activity after 54 cycles.

Late last night in the 4th negotiation round the Austrian Presidency of the EU, the Commission and EU Parliament failed to reach an agreement on CO2 targets for cars and vans up to 2030. T&E deplores the stubbornness of the Austrian government in rejecting all Parliament’s and other Member States’ compromises and urges European countries and the Commission to start negotiating seriously.
