Tony evaluates the evolution of technologies, end-use demand and secondary supply dynamics for precious and battery metals across the Asia-Pacific region. He develops and maintains detailed quantitative models that support SFA’s forward-looking forecasts and price outlooks for key commodities in APAC. Tony’s work integrates macroeconomic indicators, regional policy developments and industrial activity trends to inform robust demand and supply assessments, including changes in plant operations, utilisation rates and substitution effects. He also analyses how policy and price movements shape recycling flows and material availability, enhancing SFA’s insights into secondary supply and circularity.

Tony’s analysis contributes to both SFA’s published research and bespoke client engagements, helping stakeholders navigate complex market drivers and make informed strategic decisions.

Tony holds an MPhil in Global and Area Studies from the University of Oxford, where he undertook advanced training in qualitative and quantitative research methods, including computational approaches to area studies. He completed a first-class BSc in Politics and Philosophy at the London School of Economics and Political Science. During his studies, he had a publication accepted at the International Conference on Economic Management and Foreign Trade, exploring the relationship between populist politics and economic performance in Europe.

Prior to joining SFA, Tony gained experience in equity research as an intern at Guotai Haitong Securities in Beijing, where he developed quantitative frameworks linking AI growth to power demand and modelled electricity load scenarios under differing policy environments. He has also worked in market research and consulting roles, including at Daxue Consulting, and completed policy research placements at the National Development and Reform Commission (Beijing) and the Institute of Economic Affairs (London). In addition, Tony founded and directed Spark DAO Ltd, an admission consulting company, where he led team growth, partnerships and events.
