DIESEL: GM and Isuzu investing $175M for plant for diesel engine components

General Motors and Isuzu announced a $175-million investment through their DMAX joint venture to build an all-new, diesel engine components plant in Brookville, Ohio. September’s diesel share of new car sales in the region is confirmed at 29.0%. Data for October, with three small markets estimated, suggest a figure of 31.3% leading to a YTD achievement of 32.1%, very close to that seen in September. Three markets returned a diesel share slightly higher than a year earlier (Austria, Germany and Norway) while a total of eight experienced a rise in diesel sales volume from a YoY standpoint.
