DIESEL: GM and Isuzu investing $175M for plant for diesel engine components

General Motors and Isuzu announced a $175-million investment through their DMAX joint venture to build an all-new, diesel engine components plant in Brookville, Ohio. The new 251,000 square-foot facility would expand the production of critical engine components for the company’s current DMAX diesel engine manufacturing operation in Moraine, Ohio.

September’s diesel share of new car sales in the region is confirmed at 29.0%. Data for October, with three small markets estimated, suggest a figure of 31.3% leading to a YTD achievement of 32.1%, very close to that seen in September. Three markets returned a diesel share slightly higher than a year earlier (Austria, Germany and Norway) while a total of eight experienced a rise in diesel sales volume from a YoY standpoint.
