The World Bank has upgraded Zimbabwe from a “Low Income Economy” to a “Lower Middle Income Economy”, signifying a positive shift that is in tandem with President Mnangagwa’s vision of transforming Zimbabwe into an “Upper Middle Income” economy by 2030. The classification of Zimbabwe as a lower-middle income economy is for the period 2019 to 2020 and is effective from July 1 this year.

Royal Bafokeng Platinum has hit back at allegations of unethical conduct by its directors. The platinum miner on Thursday issued a notice to shareholders, shortly after markets closed, in response to a report by The Star that the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (Saica) is investigating six of Royal Bafokeng Platinum's (RBPlat) board members for allegedly trying to defraud a firm – Ithemba Consulting.
