FUEL CELLS: Scania, partners developing fuel cell electric refuse truck

Scania, a member of the Volkswagen Group, is developing a fuel cell refuse truck together with Renova, a waste handling company in western Sweden, fuel cell manufacturer Powercell Sweden AB, and JOAB, a manufacturer of truck bodies. The truck will feature a fully electrified powertrain as well as an electrified compactor.

FUEL CELLS: Mercedes launches 'GLC F-Cell' hydrogen/PHEV powertrain

Mercedes says the powertrain set-up for the vehicle is unique as it features both fuel cells and a battery drive which can be charged externally using plug-in technology. Alongside various national and regional ministries as well as the National Organisation Hydrogen (NOW) and H2 Mobility, the first customers in the German market also include Deutsche Bahn, the German national railway operator.

FUEL CELLS: Nikola Motor introduces Nikola Tre heavy-duty hydrogen-electric truck for Europe

In response what it said is widespread interest from European customers, Nikola Motor Company has designed a hydrogen-electric truck for European markets. Reservations for the Nikola Tre (means “Three” in Norwegian) are now open. Guests at Nikola World in Phoenix in April 2019 will be able to view a prototype display of the Nikola Tre, along with other new zero-emission products from Nikola including the production intent Nikola Two.
