Since SFA (Oxford)'s first event in 2010, the Oxford Platinum Lectures have become an annual staple of the London Platinum Week calendar, welcoming the PGM industry’s most important players to the UK and Oxford. In addition, the Oxford Battery Metals Lectures offer key insights and expert perspectives on the key events and pressing issues in the battery metals markets. Each event offers thought-provoking presentations and passionate debates facilitated by experts and intellectuals in this prestigious and unique forum, addressing some of the most complex questions concerning the platinum group metals and battery metals markets.
The Oxford Battery Metals Lectures
Thursday 9th May
SFA (Oxford) is deeply embedded in the supply chain of critical minerals for the energy transition, we are delighted to have key players join us including SQM, CATL, and BMW/MINI, and will discuss how the battery metals value chain is undergoing rapid change. Significant investment in battery technologies, enhancing efficiency and energy density, is helping to make EVs an increasingly attractive option for consumers as the drive from early adopters to the mass market accelerates. This impacts the dynamics of the EV adoption curve, which further intensifies the evolving nature of the supply chain. Furthermore, governmental and ESG pressures are expediting the shift from traditional mining methods to more sustainable approaches.

The Oxford Platinum Lectures
Friday 10th May
Secondary supply of PGMs from autocatalyst recycling is expected to increase substantially in the coming years. Since recent automotive market developments have potentially disrupted the trajectory of this anticipated growth, the timing of the additional influx of secondary PGMs into the market could disrupt the balance between supply and demand. It is therefore critical to understand how the recycling landscape might develop in the years ahead and assess the challenges posed by the expanding PGM recycling sector.
Join us at the Oxford Platinum Lectures, where industry experts and authorities on PGMs will share their outlooks and perspectives, contextualising developments in the recycling sector, debating the implications for the PGM market and prices.
Drawing from experts across the PGM value chain, including BASF, Sibanye-Stillwater, Mitsubishi Corporation, China Precious Metals Industry Committee (CPMIC) and Hensel Recycling, and with interactive Q&A sessions, the event will feature insightful lectures and stimulating debate. Our international and diverse audience represents a broad range of companies that spans PGM producers, refiners, fabricators, end-users, recyclers and investors.
