OECS

Critical minerals, policy, and the energy transition

Facilitating market growth across OECS members

The Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) plays a pivotal role in advancing regional cooperation, economic integration, and sustainable development across its member states. Comprising Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and associate members including Anguilla, the British Virgin Islands, Guadeloupe, and Martinique, the OECS provides a unified platform for addressing shared challenges, particularly in the energy sector. Through initiatives like the Eastern Caribbean Energy Regulatory Authority (ECERA) and the Sustainable Energy Framework for the Eastern Caribbean (SEFEC), the OECS promotes renewable energy deployment, energy efficiency, and regulatory harmonisation across the region. The organisation supports member states in reducing dependence on imported fossil fuels, improving energy resilience, and accelerating the transition toward cleaner, more affordable energy systems. Its focus includes scaling solar PV, wind, geothermal, and battery storage solutions, alongside facilitating knowledge exchange and access to climate finance. By fostering regional collaboration and policy alignment, the OECS strengthens the collective bargaining power of small island developing states (SIDS) and plays a critical role in supporting energy security, economic growth, and climate resilience across the Eastern Caribbean.
